F.A.Q
Which media can I read ?
Scan® 500 automatically counts:
On Petri dishes, poured, spread and Spiral
What is the minimum detected colony size ?
The minimum colony size is 0.1 mm
Does Scan® 500 count on dark agar ?
Scan® 500 is equiped with a lighting system that lights from the bottom and from the top and allows for 6 different lighting combinations of lighting. You can then count on any support, light or dark.
May I tranfer the results to Excel™ ?
The Scan® software automatically saves results and images. You can export them to Excel™. You can check the results any time, and even make the counting again from the saved data. Transfer to Excel™ is greatly appreciated by labs because with this feature, the report is almost written.
Does Scan® make automatic reading of the supports ?
Contrast and luminosity setting is fully automatic and Scan® 1200 adapts automatically to any kind of agar. You can also save customized settings according to different types of agar or support.
What are Scan® application areas ?
Scan® 500 is widely used in food microbiology, pharmaceutical analysis, medical and environmental tests. It ensures the traceability of the colony counting and allows for great time reduction, making the laboratory work more reliable, comfortable and efficient.
How much time will i save with Scan® 500 ?
1000 colonies are detected in 1 second
Counts 30 dishes in 5 minutes (in real conditions with presetting)
Thanks to the speed and reliability of counting, the custom settings and the export of results to Excel , and the numerous advantages of the Scan® software, time saving is estimated at 80% compared to manual counting.
Is Scan® 500 software available in different languages?
Scan® software is available today in English, French, Japanese, Chinese and Russian. Its powerful and user-friendly interface and its adaptability to many supports make it a worldwide success.
Does Scan® 500 require a lot of maintenance?
No, it is a unit that requires very few maintenance. LED lighting gives a great flexibility for the readings and their long lifetime expectancy ensures the Scan® quality and longevity.
Can I read chromogenic plates?
Yes, Scan® software offers colony counting by color distinction and differenciation, up to 7 colors at a time, allowing for easy and quick reading of chromogenic plates
Is the Scan® software adapted to my LIMS? Yes. Entirely developed by INTERSCIENCE’s R&D department, we can adapt the software to your application.
Is Scan® 500 efficient for inhibition zone analysis? Yes, Scan 500 operates inhibition zone analysis / antibiogram analysis function. It simultaneously mesures diameters up to 6 zones simultaneously and direct R.I.S (Resistant / Intermediate / Susceptible) results are given automatically.
